The Franz Josef Community would like to welcome you to our special place on the West Coast. The ares is well-known for its iconic glacier flowing through temperate rainforest from the mountains toward the sea!
You will soon be a part of our community, perhaps just for this season or for a longer period. We would like you to make use of and your contribution to what the community has to offer.
Follow our Facebook page Franz Josef CDO to keep up do date with community events and when you have a local address do join The Franz Josef Collective FB Page where you can post requests for ride shares, accommodation, things to sell and keep an eye out for events.
Franz Josef’s permanent population is about 450 people. Over the height of the season that grows to around 700+ people who are mostly working to ensure visitors to the town have a fantastic holiday experience.
This web site is largely built for you so that you can make the most of your time in Franz, know where to go for help and find meaningful ways to contribute to making Franz a better place for all to live, work and play!
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT OFFICER (CDO)
The CDO is the “go-to” person for anything locally. Any questions about local sports, gym and squash memberships, community events, immigration support, training, local organizations, volunteer opportunities, spreading the word about something you are organizing, you can ask the CDO to help!
