Domestic Bins: Green wheelie bins collected every 2nd Wednesday.
Business Collection: Rubbish—Monday & Thursday; Recycling—Friday.

Sorted recycling (clean plastic bottles, glass by colour, cans) is free for residents.
General rubbish is charged by size. Pay cash or via charge account—no EFTPOS.
No domestic rubbish in street bins—these are for visitors’ convenience.
Note:
Rubbish goes to landfill near Ross/Hokitika.
Recycling goes to Christchurch.

General rubbish is charged by the bag, bin or trailer. Please speak to the person on duty about what you have / how much and where to put it. Payment by cash or pre set up charge account. (no eftpos)
The team accept whiteware, metal, timber etc for a fixed fee.
The transfer station accepts clean, flat, DRY cardboard.
Please do not put your domestic rubbish in the street side bins around town. The bins are paid for by our rates but they are not big enough to take domestic rubbish and what they are there for, which is the convenience for people out enjoying our village who want to keep it neat and tidy.
Rubbish and recycling that we make here at Franz does have quite a journey before it finishes its travels. Rubbish goes to the landfill, located between Ross and Hokitika! Recycling heads over the hill to Christchurch. Reduce /Reuse and Recycle!

Most shops / services in Greymouth /Hokitika have accounts with Grey valley and can on charge you or it is easy to set up an account directly with Grey Valley Couriers.
Grey Valley offer pick up and drop offs to both residential and business addresses. Freight between Greymouth and Franz / Fox is generally picked up one day and delivered the next if there are no volume constraints.

There are many energy retailers that sell electricity to households and businesses in Franz Josef. Shop around and find the one that suits your needs the best. All power retailers supply to Franz.
If you have a power outage at your house that is not affecting your neighbours / the village then there may have been a major short on your property that has blown the poll fuse. If this occurs contact your power retailer and they will contact West Power to come and check the fuse and replace if necessary.

Their primary business is to ensure the farming community have rural supplies but they are also stock a good range of pet food, potting mix, garden seeds, wet weather gear, including gumboots! They are down dropping items off in person to Franz residents each week.
